A heartfelt thank you for considering our venue for your special day.
Cederkloof Botanical Retreat are perfect for informal, outdoor couples and groups where you have an open fynbos canvas to create & design your own perfect weekend event, birthday or wedding.

How it works
The Opstal hosts wedding receptions for 36-160 people, or more. Our group sizes are very flexible, and our space works well for small and large events.
Choose from several outdoor ceremony spaces at 1. Opstal on lawns next to pool, the 2. hexagon in the mountain, 3. the forest, the 4. stream, all with breath-taking views and scenery. The setting is perfect for a weekend event with loads of on-site activities; hiking, mountain biking, swimming pool, garden games and chilling-out spaces.
We ask that the entire retreat be fully booked during an event so that the music and revelry can continue with no curfew.
We don't charge a venue fee and we don’t charge any corkage, you can run your own bar, or we have local suggestions we can put you in contact with. As long as the minimum accommodation are booked you have the space for yourself.
You are welcome to use any caterers, we don’t run our own kitchen but have recommendations for you. (on second tab of excel sheet of local caterers)
We are not event planners but will assist with any upfront planning us much as we can or recommend people. Our staff will assist with setup, depending on your needs, this can be discussed in more details.
We have a generator for power outages ;-)
The entire premise have WIFI ;-)
1. The Opstal
Kitchen:
The kitchen is an industrial chef kitchen and can accommodate food preparation for large groups. We supply cutlery, crockery and glasses for meals as well as pots, kettles, braai tools for preparing your meals. The kitchen includes large gas hobs, electric oven, 2 x large glass see through fridges and big freezer for storing ice which we supply (this are charged for per bag). Wrap around veranda:
The veranda outside of the kitchen includes a very large fireplace and bread/pizza oven for alternative cooking options.
Seating:
You can seat up to 96 people on the veranda. More than that we suggest to hire a stretch tent for the lawn for seating. Tables: Our tables seats 8 people each head on head.
The lawn:
Our lawn transforms in the space which you desire. It has a hot tub and swimming pool. Use this as your own creative canvas. Dining, dancing, lounging, playing, star gazing!
Indoor bar
This very spacious bar includes a large glass door fridge, and have more than enough space for storing supplies.
Library lounge & fire place
The lounge are spacious with leather couches which can be used for anything really ;-)
2. The Hexagon
The hexagon deck is a 4min scenic walk from the cottages in the mountain.
It’s got breathtaking views of the valley perfect for “I do”, yoga, sundowners. A space to be creative.
3. The Forest
The forest is a magical wonderland.

4. The Stream
Dreamlike setting with the sound of the stream in the background.
It’s the perfect place for small intimate weddings for up to 50 people, or a photo corner, pre-drinks etc.
Accommodation
All guests can enjoy on-site accommodation at Cederkloof, so that no one needs to drive anywhere.

There are 10 cottages in total.
All walking distance.

The Opstal
The Opstal have 5 basic bedrooms. 2 Rooms share the main bathroom with a door connecting the rooms. The other 3 rooms are all en-suite. This works great for DJ, photographers, groomsmen, caterers, people that are part of the event logistics.
Tents
Our fairy bell tents are a perfect addition for extra accommodation.

Pricing
When booking our venue, please note that minimum stay requirements apply which includes the
Opstal and all cottages to have the venue for yourself.
For weekend bookings, a minimum of two nights is required. For long weekends, a minimum of three nights applies. This ensures exclusive use of the venue and gives you and your guests time to fully enjoy the experience without the stress of rushing in and out.
While we are not professional event planners, we are happy to assist with your initial planning and can recommend trusted local service providers who know the venue well.
Our team is available to help with setup and basic on-the-day coordination depending on your needs. These details can be discussed during your planning process to ensure everything runs smoothly.
What's included in your booking
Included for heads on bed:
Tables
White chairs
Benches for hexagon (30 x scatter cushions), Arch
Stemless wine glass, beer glass, champagne glass
White dinner plate, small white plate, white soup bowl
Knife, fork, large spoon
Coffee cups, small spoons, URN, 3 Plungers (plungers can be taken from cottages)
Full use of Opstal kitchen facility and utensils
For guests staying off-site an additional R350 per head will be charged.
To confirm your dates and for us to block the venue:
50% To book Cederkloof (accommodation and opstal fee) - The total accommodation (10 cottages – sleeps 28) and Opstal (sleeps 10) equates to:
2026: R77 816 = R38 908
2027: R85 600 = R42 800
75% Balance 2 months before wedding. (cottages and opstal fee)
100% Balance 1 month before wedding (cottages & opstal, tents, all extra's)

Terms & Conditions
Cancellations and Refunds
We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

Full refund if cancelled 6 months before the event

50% refund if cancelled 5 months before

25% refund if cancelled 3 months before
-
No refund if cancelled less than 3 months before the event
Important things to note:
Breakage:
The damages deposit will be paid back within 14 working days post the wedding, accounting for the agreed damage to property or glassware, cutlery & crockery was incurred, and that all tabs have been settled; The security/damages deposit will be refunded into your bank account via EFT. Should there be damages incurred or outstanding tabs; these amounts will be deducted from the R2000 and only the difference will be paid.
Waiver:
All guests are required to sign our waiver at least two weeks before arrival. You can access the waiver form here:
